GEPENC SUPPORTS NEW ZUMBA FOR SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAM

FREE Open House to be held Saturday January 22, 2011 10am -12noon

100% of funds to support Echo Park Recreation Center Programs

(Echo Park, CA) The Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council (GEPENC) is supporting the Echo Park Recreation Center’s NEW 2011 Zumba for Scholarships Program.  

Since 2001, Zumba has grown to become the world’s largest – and most
successful – dance-fitness program with more than 10 million people of all
shapes, sizes and ages taking weekly Zumba classes in over 90,000 locations
across more than 110 countries.

The Echo Park Recreation Center  Zumba  for Scholarships Program class will be held weekly on Wednesday nights from 7:00pm to 8:00pm at the new Echo Park Recreation Center gym located at 303 Patton Street, Los Angeles, CA 90026 Cross Street is West Court Street next to Glendale Boulevard (formerly the Boys and Girls Club located across the street from the Echo Park Aquatic Center).

A FREE Community Open House will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 10am to 12noon with a Zumba demonstration at 10:30am.

Four, ten-week sessions will be offered at the cost of $40 per person, per session. 

The goal is to have a minimum of forty participants per session and raise $1,600 for the Echo Park Recreation Center on a quarterly basis. This will provide ongoing revenue for athletic scholarships and help more youth to stay involved with sports in Echo Park.

Thanks to the generous support of the Silver Lake Medical Center, all instructor and class fees have been 100% underwritten.

Designed for beginners, the classes will be taught by Zumba instructor, Ms. Cindy Ruiz.

(Break Holidays Month of December)
Dan Hammet, Director of the Echo Park Recreation Center said, ” GEPENC has
been a strong supporter of the Echo Park Recreation Center. We are looking
forward to offering a new fun dance fitness program and at the same time
raise funds to help underwrite youth athletic programs in Echo Park.”
